The chemical composition of 304H contains carbon, manganese, silicon, chromium and nickel. These alloys contain high carbon. This grade is a highly utilized grade of stainless steel in many applications, and it is among the most adaptable grade of stainless steel. Grade 304H has higher strength at elevated temperatures, so it is often used for structural and pressure-containing applications at temperatures above about 500 degree and up to about 800 degree . 304H will be sensitive in the 425-860 degree C temperature range; is not a problem for high temperature applications, but reduces the corrosion resistance of aqueous solutions.
304H SHIMS are safe from carburization. They are always safe from harmful high temperature radiation. 304H SHIMS have additions of nickel and chromium, making them unaffected to corrosive media. Basically, they were the primitive alloy to be used.

Further 304H SHIMS underwent changes. In order to lessen the chance of rupture cracking, such changes were done. Rupture cracking usually takes place due to the occurrence of carbon content. 304H SHIMS can be used for high-structural mechanical constructions.
